Sencha is the most popular tea in Japan. A classic green tea that is grown under specific conditions to increase the nutrient content and green tea colour and taste. Only the tender young leaves are used to produce our Sencha Fukujyu, which is the finest quality Japanese tea with a sweet, refreshing taste and almost grassy aroma. Sencha when ground is known as Matcha and this is the tea most used within the Japanese tea ceremony.
To Brew: When preparing by the cup, this tea can be used repeatedly - about 3 times. The secret is to use water that is about 180’F or 80’C. Place 1 teaspoon in your cup let the tea steep for about 3 minutes. If the leaves are reused the same day then steeping time should be increased to five minutes.
