Earl Grey tea is thought to be named after Charles Grey, 2nd Earl Grey, British Prime Minister in the 1830s. It is unique in using oil obtained from the rind of the bergamot orange to add a special and unmistakable flavour.

Lady Grey is a recent blend which is named after Mary Elizabeth Grey, the wife of Charles Grey, to appeal to the Scandinavian market, which found Earl Grey tea too strong in flavour.

Traditionally this lighter form of earl grey uses less bergamot oil and has orange and lemon peel.  A  premium full leaf tea from Sri Lanka with added pure oil of bergamot, orange peel, and lemon verbena (a leaf herb with a mild lemon taste and aroma) to give a refreshing, light citrus black tea that is full of flavour.

Ingredients: Black tea, Oil of Bergamot, Orange Pieces, Lemon Verbena.

To brew: Bring freshly drawn cold water to a rolling boil. Place 1 teaspoon of tea for each cup into the teapot. Pour in the boiling water, cover and let steep for 2-5 minutes according to taste (the longer the steeping time the stronger the tea). For drinking without milk a shorter brewing time is recommended. The tea is also ideal for serving iced with lemon and sugar to taste.
